Driven by the client’s playful vision and love for design, the Point McKay Residence kitchen renovation seamlessly blends Scandinavian minimalism with touches that subtly speak to a Palm Springs-inspired getaway.

Committed to maintaining a timeless interior, the palette is predominantly neutral, with only the island accented with the client’s favourite pop of colour – powder pink. The striking island pushes the boundaries of this aesthetic, allowing the space to remain fun while maintaining a minimalist theme. Crafted off-site as a single, substantial piece weighing 300 pounds—it introduces a delightful twist that elevates the entire space. The challenge of integrating such a bold feature was met with creativity and precision, resulting in a stunning focal point that brings character and playfulness to the heart of the home.

The “before” of this kitchen space had an entirely different layout, and the new layout required us to remove the wall between the dining room and kitchen, rotate the kitchen and rethink the breakfast nook. Further, it was dark and dated, allowing for a true transformation with this bright and airy solution. The singular, thoughtfully designed island transformed the space, creating a cohesive environment that balances elegance with a joyful spirit; a home where Scandinavian simplicity meets imaginative design.
