When the vibrant duo who call Renfrew Residence home approached us, their house was drowning in builder-grade grey neutrals and cold, dark flooring – the design equivalent of a wet blanket. They craved the opposite: bold colours, playful moments and an inviting space that would make every guest smile.

Starting from the ground up, we swapped the dreary floors for warm caramel hardwood and instantly changed the entire vibe. From there, a Temperley London floral wallpaper became our north star – cheekily inset within the living room’s coffered ceiling, it unlocked the joyful palette of jewel tones that flow confidently from the entry through the living room’s custom millwork, all the way to the warm green upper cabinets and deep navy lowers of the kitchen.

Our clients already had a fabulous collection of mid-century furniture, art and kitsch curiosities which we embraced whole-heartedly, adding just a few additional touches – fresh upholstery, structured lounge chairs and a plush sectional, an area rug or two, and a custom console table that curves from the entry into the living room like it was always meant to be there.

Let’s not forget the powder room. Scenic western-themed wallpaper in a playful pink, a green vanity and custom hand-painted portraits of the clients’ cats (as cowboys, naturally) make it one the most unapologetically fun pockets of space in the home.
