Located in Edmonton, Sumolash is the epitome of Japandi chic, where Japanese minimalism meets Scandinavian functionality to create a calm yet vibrant retreat.
At 1,000 square feet, this custom-designed lash studio embodies a modern aesthetic infused with tradition, offering a sanctuary for self-care and empowerment.
The client’s vision centred on creating an inclusive and intimate atmosphere tailored for privacy and pampering, deviating from the open-concept norm of typical lash studios. This demand for intimacy is met with a harmonious palette of rich navy tones, warm walnut wood, and textured concrete, striking an exquisite balance between strength and softness. A standout plaster wall, inspired by Japanese karesansui gardens, welcomes guests with its tranquil texture.
Design highlights include an over-sized walnut door with reeded glass and a custom pink pull for a playful yet sophisticated touch. The moody hallway with tonal navy paint acts as a gallery, showcasing portraits of historical female warriors, while serene treatment rooms feature bright, clean finishes for a contrast in ambiance.
Blending thoughtful space planning with an artful mix of contemporary and heritage influences, Sumolash transcends its function, offering an elevated, personalized experience that perfectly mirrors our client’s values.
